Camera Tracking

When you are tasked with tracking cameras, please use these VFX Horde standards.

Deliverables

To complete your task you need to provide two uploads:
  1. Camera Track
  2. Lens Distort
How these are to be delivered please read below.

Naming Conventions

It is very important to follow the correct naming conventions as the VFX Horde pipeline uses file names to run its processes.

This is the established naming convention for VFX Horde Assets:
[Sequence]_[Shot Number]_[Asset Type]_[Version].[Extention]

The footage provided will have all the information you need in order to provide the correct naming conventions.

An example of a footage download zip file is:
AL1_1020_footage_001.zip

Camera Track

All cameras should be exported as alembic files (.abc)

Cameras should follow the correct naming convention:
[Sequence]_[Shot Number]_shotCamera_[Version].[Extention]

An example of a correctly named camera would be:
AL1_1020_shotCamera_001.abc

Before uploading your file, zip the file and give it the same file name. Example:
AL1_1020_shotCamera_001.zip

Lens Distort

All lens distortions should be exported as a native nuke node (.nk)

A lens distortion should follow the correct naming convention:
[Sequence]_[Shot Number]_lensDistortion_[Version].[Extention]

An example of a correctly named lens distortion would be:
AL1_1020_lensDistortion_001.abc

Before uploading your file, zip the file and give it the same file name. Example:
AL1_1020_lensDistortion_001.zip

3D Lut

Download the Horde LUT to make the footage from Log to Rec709:
VFX Horde 3D LUT Cube

Camera World Scale

Cameras scale should be in centimeters.
Download the human scale reference:
VFX Horde 6 Foot Man

Ground Plan

All translating cameras need to have the correct ground height that is reflected in the footage. The ground plane should be a 0.

If the camera is nodal or near nodal the correct horizon line should be aligned. If not otherwise stated in the task notes, the camera should be lifted off the ground (in Y) 120 cm as that is the default camera height.
